Equine-Assisted Counseling

Equine-Assisted Counseling is a therapeutic approach that involves interactions between individuals and horses to promote emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being. It is often used as a complementary treatment method in various therapeutic settings.  In this program, guidance will be provided on a peaceful horse ranch through both the formation of a bond and multiple other modalities.

Sessions consist of activities such as grooming, feeding, and leading the horse; as well as nature and mindfulness based interventions. Depending on the client's needs and preferences, activities such as guided meditations, mindfulness walks, and self-care skills training will be incorporated. The focus is not on equestrianship skills but rather on the therapeutic benefits of the human-horse relationship.

The presence of horses can have a positive impact on individuals, as they can mirror human emotions and behaviors. Horses are highly perceptive and sensitive to nonverbal cues, which can help therapists gain insights into the emotional state and needs of their clients.
